Peeling from wooden window sills and frames

(Detachment of a dried paint film in pieces, usually caused by moisture or grease under the painted surface). Paint usually peals from window sills and frames because of condensation. Water standing on the sills will eventually penetrate the paint film.

Possible causes

  • Water condensation.

Solution

  • Remove all loose paint by scraping or sanding. Chemical strippers or heat gun can also be used. Caulk window sills to prevent any opportunity for moisture to penetrate into the wood substrate.
